Participation at the PACBB 2018 conference

The 12th International Conference on Practical Applications of Computational Biology & Bioinformatics (PACBB 2018) took place in Toledo (Spain) from 20th to 22nd June, and the SING group participated with two contributions made in collaboration with the Phenotypic Evolution Group. Both contributions, listed bellow, were presented in the third session of the conference, entitled Omics data analysis and mining:

  • H. López-Fernández; P. Duque; S. Henriques; N. Vázquez; F. Fdez-Riverola; C.P. Vieira; M. Reboiro-Jato; J. Vieira (2018) A bioinformatics protocol for quickly creating large-scale phylogenetic trees. 12th International Conference on Practical Applications of Computational Biology & Bioinformatics: PACBB 2018. Toledo, Spain. 20 - June
  • N. Vázquez; S. Rocha; H. López-Fernández; A. Torres; R. Camacho; F. Fdez-Riverola; J. Vieira; C.P. Vieira; M. Reboiro-Jato (2018) EvoPPI: a web application to compare protein-protein interactions (PPIs) from different databases and species. 12th International Conference on Practical Applications of Computational Biology & Bioinformatics: PACBB 2018. Toledo, Spain. 20 - June Presentation file

The first contribution was presented by Jorge Vieira (Phenotypic Evolution Group), who introduced a novel bioinformatics protocol for quickly creating large-scale phylogenetic trees where some of our previously developed tools such as SEDA and ADOPS are used. The second contribution was presented by Hugo López-Fernández, postdoctoral researcher of our group, who introduced EvoPPI, a web application to compare protein-protein interactions (PPIs) from different databases and species.

Also, Florentino Fdez-Riverola and Miguel Reboiro-Jato acted as chairpersons of the second (Systems Biology) and fifth (Sequences) sessions, respectively.
